i think a skeleton is a perfect way to describe a secret sorrow.
scratch that.
a skeleton is like the spirit of a person. a secret sorrow is the result of breaking a bone in the skeleton

like what stacy said, a skeleton is like a frame, some sort of scaffold that shapes who you are. you rarely ever see it, but if you see past things as replaceable as skin and defensive as muscle, you can see hints of how it formed every line and contour that defines the body. if you cut the skin, you'll bleed for a little bit. if you cut into muscle, it's worse. if you break a bone, it stays for a very very long time, usually restructuring our bodies. not to mention the most painful out of all three.
the skeleton the thing that lasts the longest in our bodies, able to be preserved long after we're dead.
our skeleton is what forms us, holds us together, and is the strongest thing in our bodies. mush like the human spirit.
a secret sorrow is like an injury to the skeleton that can break us, tear us apart, and weaken us.

yeaaah. i think that's right.
