I took these photos when I was at the zoo yesterday. When I eventually noticed the sign I was horrified to see the gruesome remains of the baby and we watched her carry it around like a rattle. All that was left was the head and spine. I don't know why it should be so eerily strange to me, to see a baboon show such obvious emotions so similar to our own, as it's quite obvious that she'd feel such loss. I suppose it's easier to mentally distance ourselves from the rest of the animal kingdom until you see something like this.
