I agree that it's funny--but notice that they're still assuming that American audiences will be unable to relate to the situation without a white placeholder.

If you're thinking of the Shaolin Soccer Mickey D's commercial, it did indeed star Asians--but it sure seems to have been made for the Chinese market.

(I also happened upon this breathtaking Nike wuxia/anime homage, which at least acknowledges that American placeholders can come in colors besides white.)
