Check out Midnight Meat Train if you get a chance too, that was the surprise horror hit of the year for me. Crazy japanese director, lots of amazing gore. It's by the same director who did "Versus", which is a weird zombie vs. yakuza in the woods movie, and also awesome.
I just today watched My Name is Bruce, and also the making-of "Heart of Dorkness," and the answer to your question is something like, "Because Bruce wanted to make a movie with his friends in his backyard. Literally." Which is good enough for me, I wasn't looking for art anyway. :P
So I was just jolted from another comment back to someone else - you should check out Versus as well if you haven't seen it, for your zombie fix. Zombies vs. yakuza in the woods? All it needs is Bruce to be a true classic.
Oh, that looks cool, and my brother seems to have given it five stars on Netflix (speaking of, there is a New Zealand sombie were-sheep movie, Black Sheep, that he said was pretty fun; I was not in a zombie mood at Christmas and missed it, but I have heard good things about it from others).
have you seen i love you man? just wondering, you'd probably like it. it's hilarious . and marly and me looked so fucking stupid. glad i didn't see that one. heh
That looks pretty funny, Paul Rudd generally makes anything good, I'll probably wait for it to be out on DVD then.. magically aquire it. Role Models was pretty funny too!
Marly and Me was horrible, but we just get everything from the internets instead of paying to see anything, so at least we're not at a loss.

You need to see Let The Right One In, though. It's amazing! 12 year old girl vampire and fucked up things!

I've been finding most aussie and kiwi horror movies coming out lately are amazing.
Oooh, Undead! Australlian movie with a misleading cover, it's goofy and has a retro feel to it. Really great and has some unexpected bits to it.
Not zombies, but Wolf Creek and Rogue from the same aussie director are great too. Rogue is sort of the Jaws of corcodile movies.
