Fujimoto removed his shoe to fill if with soppy sand from the sea, taking care to line it enough with the stuff that he could go at least several miles without water. Not that he planned on going several miles . . . The nearest freshwater was all of a mile away, perhaps a mile and a half. The sea wizard had a nose for these things and freshwater had a scent distinctly different from the saltwater he would always know and love.
The flippant and angry aura about him was evident. He steered clear of the noble and walked right up into the woods to the boy who was leading this whole operation.
He made eye contact, and spoke as he walked by.
"If you humans are looking for fresh water, follow me." His tone was decidedly gruff.
He did not bother to turn around, continuing on into the jungle, sloshing all the way.
He frowned slightly; it was true, but the monsters summoned were different from humans - different even from normal animals, as they were tied to the Abyss still. He wasn't too sure about the exact manner in which those creatures were summoned, but - ". . .the only person to ever escape was the Vessalius brat." He wasn't sure how the brat did it, but he had, after disappearing for ten years. "And those creatures. . .I think they can only leave if they're summoned by a person connected to them somehow." It would explain why there weren't summoned monsters from the Abyss running about all the time; if aummoning a creature was that simple, the nobles would be doing so against each other, the lower class against the nobles, the nobles against the lower class. . .simply put, it would be an unprecendented amound of chaos.
Elliot tensed, bristling slightly when one of the few non-socializing people he'd seen on the beach bypassed him to speak to the dark-haired boy. Perhaps he was just being foolish and overly caution, but there was

Fujimoto regretfully turned back, exasperated. He was wet from head to toe, his wild hair still thick with sea water.
"I can smell it."
He did not need to explain himself further, to any of them. Turning back around he spoke again though this time it was muttered under his breath, "Stupid humans, this is the thanks I get for saving the likes of you?"
While the more rational part of his mind was pointing out that it was a good thing this stranger - a strange man who most definitely was not human, whatever he might be, but also clearly not of the Abyss, which left him with little clue as to what this man was - would apparently be able to lead them to fresh water quickly, the stranger's attitude irritated him, fraying his already-strained restraint. "Damn it, you didn't save our lives" he snapped, glaring. "You haven't even done anything yet, just said you know where water is. That's saving time; there's a difference."
It might not be, Elliot grudgingly admitted to himself, the best idea to irritate this stranger to the point where he decided to leave them to find the water themselves. It still didn't change the fact that the red-head was being a rude arrogant bastard who thought he was better than everyone else because he could smell water. That the man's insistence on differentiating himself from humans, which strongly implied that he was of a different species, already made him

"I'm just asking that you quit arguing with me!" Fujimoto was now getting exceedingly frustrated.
He turned back into the woods and walked on. He didn't have time for this. Being away from the water was driving him nuts already. I just want to go home. I wonder how my girls are doing. Ponyo is likely up to something. She knows nothing of respect or discipline. I try so hard. I don't know what to do with her. His thoughts continued on like this, playing across his face as he walked further into the direction of the water, his nose leading the way. He hadn't even bothered to look behind him to see if anyone was following.
