So. This is National GLBT Pride month. As declared by a President who does not support, and has never, as far back as I can find, supported the right of same-sex couples to marry

I somehow missed this annoucement. But in short, giving us a pride month is just going to cause more issues and more gay bashing and I would rather have the right to marry my girlfriend then have a month plastered with rainbows.

Other than the fact that I've got a lot of people on my F-list who are concretely affected by the above issue, I know that in my case, if someone starts a discussion of a potentially volatile issue with a lot of ranting or insults, I almost always assume it's flamebait and ignore it. I would be unsurprised if this was true for a lot of my other readership, and seeing as I'm actually curious as to what's going on here, I figured a different approach was likely to get me more and more productive/positive responses.

I feel alternate turns of hope and fear, honestly.

Waiting for the next bashing that'll come of this.

But I'm also going to Provincetown next month. The boogeymen aren't going to stop me from being out and loud... and likely I won't take a bullet for it.. I hope.
