few things to note... lecarick August 5 2007, 15:33:37 UTC
one, if he has a 2wire he prolly didn't get a standard dsl modem with his service so he will also need a dsl modem.

two, if he wants a wireless router, I've always had good luck with linksys, though on occasion I did have issues with ports and the whole think screwing up on my linksys wired router, and my netgear has never given me that kind of trouble.

three, dsl blows and the phone company rips you off on it, he aughta be paying no more than 15-20 bucks a month for it at most.

Belkin routers are cheap and work well. Some even had the ability to put 3rd party firmware into them with QOS optimization, which actually can make some applications on your clients work better - from MMORPG to voice and video.

I'm not sure whether my Linksys Wireless G is a good router or not but it's what I use.

Pros: Once it's set up it's not gone wrong, easy to manage computers plus there's lots of help on the net. The range also seems to be good and once connected I've never lost signal strength.

Cons: Set up can be a bitch, and I mean that. Lots of running back and forth.
Hopefully it will not be as much trouble but I lost about 20lbs when installing mine. ;)

I use a Linksys Wireless-G router, the model is WRT54G. I paid about $45 dollars for it and I can get a strong signal throughout the house. I highly recommend it, even if it was a pain to first set up. ;)
