You're not wrong... but at the same time, it really is nice that we've reached a point in history where we can stop harping on all the things we know and agree W. has done wrong, and start talking about all the ways we might fix them.

Hi there!

Oh and don't get me wrong, I am GLAD that he's almost gone. I really don't mean to be so negative and harp on the past. It's just ... weird ... y'know? [shudders]

You're the second blogger on my list to complain about that.

Hi there!

Yeah, except for the part where it implies that Bush is Superman and I'm the bad guy ... :)

I have no use or sympathy or fellow feeling for the latecomers to the Bush Hating Party. They voted him in twice (well, once...) because he seemed like the kind of guy they'd like to have a beer with, apparently, and now they're reaping what they sowed. So they're rushing to get a seat on the Hate Bandwagon.

Too late, not enough, told you so. Next time (which hopefully oh please God there will never be) maybe people will listen to people like us.

And yes, he does seem utterly irrelevant now. EXCEPT he is still pushing through last-minute lame duck gifties for his fat-cat friends. Stuff it will take President Obama (oh my, do I LOVE typing that!) years to undo. But he will. I have more faith than I've had for a long time.

I don't care to identify with Lex Luthor, though. I feel more like Frodo after the Ring was destroyed. I just wish I could throw Bush and Cheney into a handy volcano...

Hi there!

Well, to beat the Tolkein metaphor like a dead Felbeast ...

I feel like the good guys marched up to the Gates of Mordor, only to find that the Orcs had quietly put down their swords and maces and taken up macrame. When we demanded that Sauron must be destroyed, they just shrugged and said: "What? You mean the lighthouse guy? Pfft, we don't care about him. He's really kind of a loser, always going on about some stupid ring, talking about how we need to protect Mordor from some damn Hobbit Terr'ists. What a dumbass. Hey! Doris made some of her new Shelob Chowder! You want to come in and have a bowl? It's nummy!".

Not that I don't LOVE the fact that the Numenorian Ranger from Illinois isn't going to rebuild the kingdom and that there's going to be another 2,000 years of harmony and peace or whatever. It's just that story seems to ended so abruptly.

Wow. I am a nerd. :)

It is worrisome because it's yet another indicator that critical thinking is dead. Clearly it's not that people are blowing off Bush because they suddenly realize that just everything that W was doing for the past seven years was wrong-headed. Rather it is that right now things are as awesome as they should be and people are more like petulant children being mad at papa for not taking them to Disney World this year even though they were so nice and good and even ate their brusselsprouts. It means that when Uncle Bama doesn't take them there either, he's going to be a big fat meany too. Grrrr. *grinds teeth*
