Rain in the ATL
It has been raining for nearly a week straight, and is forecast to rain for another week. Our grass is crazy tall (going to seed!) but we can't mow it because our yard is a swamp. We had a watermelon split open in our garden from taking up too much water. And the seed heads of my blackeyed susans are sprouting - while still attached to the plant! ( Read more... ) -

I have come to the conclusion that the Wendy's near where I work is either entirely incompetent, or they have a dysfunctional drive-thru microphone. I hesitate to blame it on the second option, because drive-thrus have come a LONG way since 20 years ago, and restaurants could figure out an order through all that static back then, so it seems odd ( Read more... ) -
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
I was really impressed with "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day." I was expecting some enjoyable but cutesy Cinderella story that was high on fluff and low on much of anything else. Funny story
I went upstairs today just in time to hear a preschool group from a Christian preschool singing grace before lunch. The song has "amen, amen" as a refrain that is repeated frequently (every other line, maybe?), with the "a" pronounced like "ah." The kids are singing their little hearts out, "ahhhmennn, ahhhmenn." Can I just say that the whole F22 debate makes me angry? If the military doesn't want the planes, don't make the planes! The senators are so worried about the jobs (or more accurately: more worried that they'll lose their next election because of the jobs that might be lost)that will be lost if we stop making them, but c'mon! Colgate 360
I went to the dentist last week, and instead of the crappy generic toothbrush he usually gives me, he gave me a Colgate 360. I scoffed at this toothbrush for the shear number of gimmicks it has. I would never have bought it at the store. But then I used it, and you know what? I love this toothbrush. It's got these silly rubber bits on it that ( Read more... ) -

stairs, remote
I feel down the stairs today! It was just a few steps, and I wasn't hurt beyond a little bruising, but it was still scary. My pants are ever so slightly too long, I had slip-on clog-style shoes with a raised heel on, and the stairs are kind of tall, so I'm guessing all three of those things contributed in some way ( Read more... ) -

I just finished a very strange phone conversation. I placed a phone call in response to a message on my voice mail. The person I was calling wasn't in yet, so I got the department's secretary.
