history
Yuffie was born in Wutai to one Lord Godo Kisaragi, head of the Pagoda and leader of their land. With an (assumed) absent mother, Yuffie was unfortunately raised by Godo and his four advisers. After taking a good look at her father, it becomes understandable that she turned out the way she did.
FINAL FANTASY VII: CRISIS CORE
Throughout her years, it's been her obvious pride in her homeland that's driven her every action. When SOLDIER attacked her home, Yuffie took it upon herself to- well, harass them at the least. One SOLDIER in particular became her primary target, Zack Fair. After a battle that she won (he let her win, but she doesn't believe that for a second), she began sending him "anonymous" - from: Treasure Princess - messages, requesting that he search out one treasure or another, and each time he completed the mission she took the reward for herself. Somehow this was meant to help Wutai's cause, but in the end her once proud land lost the war and she had to watch everybody she loved become part of a tourist trap. What made her absolutely furious was that her father bowed down and let it go on, he let it happen for so long that eventually Yuffie left to find a way to restore Wutai to its former glory.
FINAL FANTASY VII
Years passed while Yuffie traveled the world, stealing the materia and gil from anybody that happened to cross her path. Sometimes she was lucky, sometimes not so much, and then they showed up. Cloud Strife, leader of a ragtag group of rebels named AVALANCHE, beat her in her one man ambush. He was strong, but probably stupid. After a short talk, Yuffie agreed to join his group and off they went into the sunset. Well, eventually, as the sun did set in the west, and that was just where she needed them to go. They gained a few new members, and then a wonderful miracle happened. The Tiny Bronco was in their possession, and Yuffie awkwardly directed them toward her beloved island and Wutai itself. A mild setback occurred but in the midst of a surprise attack by ShinRa soldiers, Yuffie snagged the materia from her comrades and fled.
As expected, AVALANCHE won the battle and gave chase. No matter where she hid, they were always able to find her. Finally it seemed she had given up. Yuffie led Cloud and his friends back to her home and down to the basement. There was only one way to get their materia back, and all he had to do was pull a simple lever. Too bad he was such a sucker, because the next thing they knew was a giant steel cage dropping down to imprison the unlucky fellows that followed the blond. Just when she had escaped the grabbing hands of AVALANCHE again, she was unexpectedly swiped by a fat man by the name of Don Corneo. Something about getting married and suddenly being tied to a cliff's face later found Yuffie waiting, breath held, while AVALANCHE fought for her freedom. The Turks arrival marked the end of the fight and Yuffie was free, however the price to pay was the return of their materia.
With the ordeal over, Yuffie's next hurdle was to defeat the Five Gods of the Pagoda - and at the top was her father. With Cloud and another joining to watch, Yuffie made her way to the top and finally prevailed. She won the respect of her peers (or probably not) and the legendary Leviathan summon. Stronger now, Yuffie joined the rest of AVALANCHE toward their goal.
They were closer to finding and defeating Sephiroth, but yet another obstacle stood before them. The unexpected death of Aerith Gainsborough saddened them all, and from then it only got worse. Sephiroth got hold of the Black Materia, summoned METEOR, Cloud fell into the Lifestream taking Tifa with him, the Huge Materia were being hunted down by ShinRa (it was HUGE materia, how could Yuffie not want it?) and the entire Planet was facing its final destruction. So what were they supposed to do? It might have been hopeless to anybody else, but AVALANCHE pulled through. After one last night to remember what they were fighting for, AVALANCHE dived into the depths of the Northern Crater and fought Sephiroth. Lo and behold, the heroes won! But this did not stop Meteor from coming, and it was headed straight for Midgar.
Yuffie was deployed with another AVALANCHE member, Vincent Valentine, to evacuate the city before Meteor crushed it. She only barely made it in time to save even him from the crumbling of the Sister Ray, but in the end it was Aerith's Holy and the Lifestream that saved them all. Midgar was in ruins, but lives were saved and the Planet was safe again.
FINAL FANTASY VII: ADVENT CHILDREN COMPLETE
Three years of peace (or some variation of it) followed the end of the Meteor Crisis. AVALANCHE disbanded, and while Yuffie made sure to call everybody as much as she could, she herself had returned to Wutai to help them rebuild. It was around this time that Geostigma began to spread, and her own people began to blame her for bringing the Midgar Illness to them. She was temporarily confined by Godo, but her childhood friend Yuri helped her to escape and the two searched for a cure to the illness. When they returned to the Wutai caves, a black watery substance began to overwhelm them, infecting Yuri and with Red XIII's help Yuffie was able to take him back to Wutai. The sick people of Wutai, now including Yuri and his mother, were quarantined, and Yuffie had no choice but to return to traveling in hopes of finding the cure.
While she was looking, Yuffie found out that the children of Wutai had suddenly gone missing. First she called Cloud, but once again she only got his voicemail. The next step was to contact Cid Highwind and hitch a ride to Midgar where she parachuted straight into battle. AVALANCHE was together again, and they took on the Bahamut summon head on. After its defeat, Cloud was off again and the remainder of AVALANCHE boarded the Shera - Cid's new airship. They watched as Cloud fought the head Larva, and stayed out of Cloud's way even when Kadaj completed the transformation into Sephiroth. His second coming was shortlived and peace was had when the Lifestream once again came to their rescue and cured Geostigma victims all over the world, including Yuri (although his mother passed during the ordeal).
The aftermath was smooth, and everybody was able to return to their normal lives. Yuffie even made a habit of calling all her friends, although Vincent may or may not have enjoyed her endless phone calls, and using the Strife Delivery Service to force Cloud to take a day off.
FINAL FANTASY VII: DIRGE OF CERBERUS
A year later found Yuffie as head of the espionage and intelligence gathering section of the World Regenesis Organization, led by the ex-ShinRa employee Reeve Tuesti.
