Sad news I received too late

Sorry you were out of the loop. Ed Costa, former president of Bears of San Francisco who for many years built the stage and ran the lighting and PS systems at IBR, died the same week.

I, too, was searching for my lost friend and found a remembrance on a bear website and then your notes here. I feel so guilty for losing touch with him. I first met "Mike" in DC while he was married, we worked together and he and his wife became my husband and my closest friends there. When we moved back to Michigan, we had several visits back and forth, before his eventual divorce. I continued to keep in touch with Lurch and agree with all the great things you've said about his sweetness and generosity. He opened up his home to us when a friend and I were visiting the San Francisco area (early 90's I think?) He wrote the most charming and entertaining Christmas letters! We both got kind of spotty with our contacts in the latest years and for the last 3-4 years my cards went unanswered. How I wish I'd simply telephoned! He will always be fondly missed by "Chicken" (of "what's kickin'?" fame).
