Calories burned when working out?

Feb 11, 2008 14:00

Can anyone give me a link that will calculate, roughly, how many calories I've burned doing a certain exercise for said amount of time? I googled it, but haven't found anything too useful. Thought I'd ask a couple of the WW comms since you've never steered me wrong before. :)

Thanks!

thedailyplate.com

it had useful nutritional information as well as exercise information. You will have to sign up, but it is free and the information is pretty good.

The ww site has a calculator for this but the results are in activity points. Here's one that has the results in calories:

I use a heart rate monitor (Polar F6) when I work out, so it gives me a very accurate reading of calories burned. Since it's customized for height, weight, gender and age, it's far more accurate than an exercise machine's readout - most of those are pretty generic in their calculations and are probably set up for men.

I use the equation that 100 calories burned = 1 AP. Someone on the WW boards once linked to the patent for the WW Points formulas and figured out that 100=1AP is how the activity calculators seem to work.
