World War I: Henri-Philippe Petain, je pense. You strike me as fairly, ah, Frenchish, and several of your adjectives seemed to fit him well enough. Working on the sidelines? Aye, that. He wasn't about the fighting, but all for the consideration. You like honor and, even more importantly, humanity. EXCELLENT, well-matched, and all. The idea fluttered around through the first bit of your app, and when you mentioned a preference for the defense, it was solidified all the more. You udnerstand that power can be misused, and don't seem to value it in itself. Looking at less pain in a swift strike shows the humanitarian aspect that many so loved in Petain. Your response for weaponry doesn't necessarily aid the vote, but it doesn't jar it, either; the biggest weapons may well end the war and its slaughter fastest. Also, because you admire those leaders who do go out and fight but wouldn't necessarily do so yourself, seems likely that you'd be willing to at least visit the men, as Petain did.
