I am going to agree with you on Toby/Andy. I have been rewatching the first four episodes of season 5 and in 7a-wf-83429 and The Dogs of War, he is definitely off Andi. He is rude about the house with her(I don't blame him) and CJ asks where Andi is in the photos of the kids. Your assesment of Zoey is probably correct as well. We know from Season 5 that Jed had a very unrealistic picture of how his family actually acted during the holidays so it is not as though Jed has a realistic view of his family. Again, Zoey puts Charlie in the role of surrogate son/son-in-law by saying that Charlie lives and dies by Jed's successes and failures. I understand why she wants to go to France, but did she not have a clue

Onto JP and the extacy- which I want to comment on. Exctasy (sp/) is the kind of drug that makes you want to do it with others and 'share the love'. As despicable as it was to have JP do it(and I have had both X and Roofies slipped into drinks of mine)-he truly wanted to 'share the experience'. I am surprised that Zoey didn't say something about his drug use because if he is so stoned that he can't tell the difference between x and GHB then something was wrong. Even though Nancy says the kidnappers were unorganized, they had gloamed onto the fact that JP is a druggie. Still-his intent wasn't for Zoey to get kidnapped, just to get her high. I'l expand on this when you do the meta.
I look forward to discussing it in future meta.
I do agree that Joe is both more reticent and less intelligent than Ainsley. Both are "less good" for me and my tastes. I like reticent TV characters but my tendencies tend to be to go for the flashy, very funny, dramatic characters.
