I've been an awful good girl this year

Favorite Characters: I adore Ainsley. But I do love everyone else as well. I don't really have anyone that I dislike. That said, I also really love Sam, Josh, Donna, Charlie, POTUS (both), Leo, Toby, CJ, Abbey.

'Ships that sail for you: Sam/Ainsley, Josh/Donna, Josh/Amy, POTUS/FLOTUS (both sets), Toby/Andy, CJ/Danny. Pretty much any of those work ( Read more... )

Won't Say It - Sam/Ainsley (PG) anonymous December 16 2010, 00:17:20 UTC
“Sam!”

Ainsley’s voice burst in his ear. Far too high a pitch for so early in the morning. At least, he thought it was still morning. They arrived late at the cabin, a cozy get-away tucked in the mountains of North Carolina. His internal clock could be off, he supposed. From under the covers, he mumbled a sleepy, wordless response.

“Sam, wake up!”

He tried to turn over, nuzzling his face into his pillow, but jolted awake when the covers flew off him, a rush of cold air breezing over his bare back.

“Hey!” He twisted around and sat up. “Ainsley, what are you--” The soft thud of a sweatshirt--right in the face--cut him off.

“Look outside! Look!”

He followed her voice and found her at the dresser, already dressed and pulling on a pair of thick socks. Squinting blearily, he peered out the window.

“It’s cloudy,” he said, pulling on the sweatshirt as he fought away a shiver.

“No--well, yes, it’s cloudy,” she said, reaching for a pair of boots. “But it’s also snowing“It’s snowing?” He blinked, craning his neck as he ( ... )

Oh, Anon, this is wonderful. As a NC girl myself, I have to agree. Snow in NC is not quite like getting snow elsewhere. We get ice but real snow is rare.

I love this. It's adorable and real. And Sam's thoughts are great. Especially that last paragraph.

Thank you so much, Anon. This really made my night.

This was...me, as well. ;) I'm really glad I was able to capture the mindset of these two. You're a great inspiration for your own gifts, by the way. That always seems to happen. Hee. ♥ Happy you liked it.

Hello Anon,

I'm not even in this particular (though delightful!) LJ community, but I found myself here after seeing someone mention it, and the fic I've read are amazing.

But this, right here, is a PERFECT fic for Ainsley-in-NC. You hit the nail on the head for what we NC'ers do when it snows, and I LOVE this fic.

"Mr. McGarry."

"Mr. Calley," Leo said as Cliff cruised past the Roosevelt Room and into his peripheral vision. "I believe we were interrupted earlier."

"Were we?"

"You were about to share the name of your tailor before CJ cut to business," he said with a smirk as he strolled toward the lobby.

Cliff answered the smirk with a smile of his own. "Women," he remarked.

"I don't understand it." Leo slowed to a stop in the lobby behind the security desk. "They say they want their men to look sharp, but parade a finely tailored suit in front of them? Three pieces, pinstriped, with a nice tie? No appreciation."

"A damn shame."

"Listen," Leo said, quickly peeking at his wristwatch. "I have a--"

"Of course."

"We could catch up on your first day."

"No, no," Cliff said. His hand dipped into his jacket pocket and emerged with a box of M&Ms. He shook it like a mini-maraca. "I'm not taking the job. I got what I came for."

Leo smiled before he turned and ambled toward the hall. "See you later, kid."

Apologies for the late reply to this.

This is fantastic and the voices are great. I love it. Suit bonding! M&Ms!

Thank you so much! <3

Obviously, this one was me. ;) Huge, huge shock, I know. I couldn't resist spreading the Cliff love. =)

Obscure choice, but perfect for both of them. I love the bonding over the suits. So very Leo.

“I fixed it.”

Ainsley looks up from her desk to find Sam Seaborn standing in her office doorway. His voice is triumphant, and he holds what she assumes to be an updated draft of the U.N. General Assembly speech in his hands.

“You fixed it?” she asks, skeptically tilting her head to the side.

“I fixed it.” A pause; then, with less certainty. “I think I fixed it.”

“Okay, well let’s see it then.”

She motions for the copy of the speech, which he steps forward somewhat hesitantly to relinquish it into her waiting hands. He hovers around the edge of her desk; although she’d never admit this, usually she finds his displays of nervous energy almost infuriatingly charming. Tonight, however, there’s a speech to read and policy to check, and Ainsley can’t concentrate when he’s just there like that ( ... )

About forty minutes later, it is Ainsley’s turn to stand in Sam’s office door, speech in hand, and announce her presence. She waits for a few moments, however, as she watches him enthralled in what appears to be a very intense game of Solitaire ( ... )

ANON, who I might know (if not... awkward),

I love you. Seriously, this is fabulous. There are so many parts to love and pick out. The dialogue is so great. Lipstick Feminism! Cupcakes! Celia and her crazy self and no one wanting to deal with her! Solitaire because of course he does do that. They all do that when they think no one is watching. The dress that she should always wear!

THANK YOU! ♥
