(Can I just say that this absolutely made my night, perhaps my entire holiday? This is fantastic. A very enthusiastic 'thank you' to the mods and a proactive, very enthusiastic 'thank you' to all of the lovely, anonymous people who chose to put anything in my stocking! You're my favorites!)

To the stocking proper!

Donna had known she'd had a simple, harmless crush on Josh. She hadn't realised it was a massive, raging unrequited love until Roslyn, when Josh lay in surgery for hours and all she could do was sit there in some dumb state wondering what she would do if she died. When his mother came, she could only sit there and think how she had no claim on Josh, not even a little one. But his mother seemed to understand, and patted her hand. "He'll be fine, you just wait."

Aww. Mrs. Lyman understanding and being sweet. And such a strong characterization of a woman in nine words, such strength and faith there, which is remarkable considering what she's already gone through. *hugs Donna*

Thank you so much, whoever you are! I was so happy to see a present in the stocking so soon! =)

Eeeeeee! Thank you so much, Anon! This was such a treat to see on Christmas Eve morning in my inbox! Sam visiting with Josh! Donna being her concerned and take-no-crap-from-Josh-and-his-whining self! Of course Donna is right, Josh, for it is the way of the world! Bwahahaha. *grin* Thanks again! I really enjoyed it! =D

Awww. I love it. I particularly liked the description of the bells-to-sirens. That whole storyline, all throughout the series whenever it appears, is one of my favorites. This was really lovely. It pings with me in all the right ways. Thanks so much! ♥

In his head, there are sirens. They start up the second he sees the news.

Andy’s on the phone, and on TV, and she’s okay. But Donna. Donna. Donna was in the car.

(He sees the black suburban explode, burst into flames. Over and over.)

No one will tell him anything.

The sirens don’t fade.

He spends the better part of twenty minutes on hold, passed around between doctors and nursing stations and hospitals before he gets any answer at all. Stable enough to move, he hears, and he wants to be encouraged. But really, that sounds ambiguous, uncertain. Ominous.

A shy young intern brings him a post it note and gets snapped at for her trouble.

Mr. & Mrs. Moss, WI, he dials, and the numbers ring in his ears. Deafening ( ... )

Wow, gorgeous. LOVE how you work in the sirens and the not stopping for red lights. Brilliant job.

Gorgeous, beautiful! I loved, loved, loved it. The sired and the red lights! The emotion throughout the whole thing is so well maintained. The style of it is so appropriate--a little disjointed into smaller moments, kind of like Josh would have been moving and thinking, with short sentences. Really great stylistic choices here. And a killer last line. GUH. GUH, MY HEART. I LOVE IT. FJDAHLFDLASFKJDSA THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Aaawwwwww. CJ and Danny! They just don't get enough attention! And they're so adorable here! Danny has always been so understanding of CJ, so patient, and I see that here, too. This is so nice, anon! Thank you!

oh, nicely done! This very much echoes the conversation they have at CJ's apartment. And the one she has with Toby. So I really like how you incorporated the teasing and seriousness at the same time.
