Stocking for soaked_in_stars!

This is such a great idea, thanks so much for organizing!

Favorite Characters: Andrea Wyatt! I'm such an Andy whore, it's completely laughable. Toby comes in a very close second (and Huck and Molly, of course), and CJ. But really, there's barely a character I don't love. I'm very into Margaret, Mrs. L, Ann Stark, Amy, all of those fabulous ( Read more... )

Molly had a crazy idea. A wild one. So wild she only trusted Huck to hear it. She was nine years old, precocious, and looking for something extraordinary to do. When she looked back on it years later, she scoffed at her unoriginality and wondered why no-one had called her on it.

"We should run away."

Huck did not set his book down, "Don't be silly, Mol."

"No really, we should run away."

He peeked over the top of the book, briefly, "That's silly."

"It's a brilliant idea."

Huck thought about it, then lowered his book, "Where would we go?"

For the Redemption and the Battles (Part 1)

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"I'm doing it."

"You haven't yet and you won't, Toby."

"I will."

"You won't."

Toby swallowed the compulsion to confess that he'd made the decision--the proposition--partly because he'd imagined the expression on Andy's face, the ash and fire in her voice before he'd ever allowed one word to roll off his lips. That knowledge, the confirmation that he could still tread a step ahead of her every now and then, that he could reach into his store of memories and anticipate her, set a warm glow in his heart too comforting to tarnish with an 'I told you soHe only allowed the corner of his mouth to twitch. Just barely. Hardly noticeable. Hardly noticeable to anyone but her ( ... )

(Sorry, I'd made a mistake with the copy/paste, and accidentally cut off a paragraph. Here's the right version. I'm so sorry about that.)

Andy narrowed her eyes. "Don't."

"What?" Toby levered himself out of the arm chair, peering over his shoulder at Andy as he walked toward Molly, who was too devoted to her ABC block pyramid to take notice of the conversation.

OH. Just OH. ♥ ♥ ♥ I love it when Toby teaches lessons. (Mostly to Andrea, as she needs them.) And everything! Molly dragging Toby to the table. Eyes over the candlelight. FAMILY. Thank you SO much!

Aw, I'm really happy that you enjoyed it. I have no idea how kid!fic came out, because I've never done it before. Your post set the idea in my head, though, which is great. So thanks for that; it was nice to do something new.

Night Five anonymous December 18 2009, 21:37:16 UTC
By the time he reaches her front door, the ice-cream is trickling over his knuckles. With his left hand, the one unbesmirched by dairy products, he knocks softly and listens in vain for footsteps.

She leaves in a hurry the next morning, a long bath and an early night having achieved more than the first choice of vodka ever would have.

Andy stops short on the stairs of her townhouse when she sees the pale yellow puddle in the grim twilight of a late winter morning. The upended ice-cream cone in the middle makes her think of ancient British queens imprisoned on lakes.

As her car pulls up at the curb, she juggles her briefcase and purse, avoiding the mess on the stoop. It isn't until later, scanning briefing memos in her office, that she realizes the missed opportunity.

Andy pulls at his bow tie, unfurling it with a brief flourish that makes him laugh against her mouth. He's unzipping her dress, inch by careful inch (after he ripped her wedding dress, it's been something of a flash point) and as their kisses grow more frantic, he attempts to direct them towards the waiting sofa ( ... )

Oh my god. Marry me?

I mean, seriously, thank you. That was so fabulous and so THEM and so steamy and lovely. THIS: Whatever they've gotten wrong before, they've never been bad at this. YEP. And the on'n'off wedding ring, and Andy the fairest critic, and many vodkas, and ripping her wedding dress, and having different ideas, and Toby zipping up her dress, and FLAIL. Thank you.
