Laine nodded enthusiastically at the Vice President of the Illuminati, and almost shyly returned the girl's smile. "I did! Even more interesting than usual, I mean." She held up a quill and spun it back and forth between two of her fingers, causing it to twirl and spin, the colours becoming a blur. "THIS was in with the undyed, natural lot," she said, and stopped to present it fully, in all its glory ( ... )

Ami grinned at Laine, the brilliant blue quill pulling her attention away from the black and gold one. "Ah," she nodded. "If it does, will you be buying it?"

She followed her towards the shelves of eye-popping louder quills, a smile still staying on her lips, in this "investigation" of real versus unnatural quills. "It is a pretty blue, even if it isn't real," she mentioned. "Does it say it has a spell-check charm or anything like that?" She motioned towards the tag on the quill, before picking up a lavender-coloured one from the pile.

"This one says it is used specifically for love letters," she mentioned, an amused look crossing her face. "Because it writes in flowery language?"

Laine paused for a moment to study the feather again, considering carefully. "You know, I've never owned a crazily coloured quill before, but perhaps this one was away from it's rightful place solely to find me. I don't know much about Divinations, but it seems like a bad idea to turn down an inanimate object who went to all that trouble. It could be DANGEROUS. I mean, what could it do to me if I didn't buy it? It'd probably show up in the library one day and vandalize books." She looked scandalized at the mere thought.

"And yes, it is a lovely sort of blue."

Laine frowned as she inspected the tag. "It doesn't say anything, actually. Only price." She looked over at the lavender quill in Ami's hands and grinned. "Or maybe it magically scents all the ink that passes through it to SMELL like flowers. I've always wanted a quill that would do that," she added a bit wistfully. "Only not flowers. I'd want it to smell like chocolate. Or rain."

Ami blinked as Laine rambled about quills and if they were meant to be used or bought by a particular person. She didn't quite believe in Divinations either, but she always thought it applied to a bigger worldlier picture and not simple things like quills. Of course, little things did add up to the "big" picture so who was to say? "If it's fate, and you like the colour, why not?" Ami smiled, giving into the mode of logic.

"Oh! Scent ones?" Ami tilted her head towards the other shelves. "I think I saw some quills on that side with scents." She walked over to that area. "And I adore chocolate and rain as well," she whispered. "Rain would be lovely."
