Ah yes, much better.

I don't think Anthony Federov can quite convey the pissed-offness that is me right now either.

Er something...just pretend that was funny and laugh, okay?

I'm sorry to hear that Mal. It just sucks that people could be so...ignorant and non-accepting of all people. It truly is disheartening. I thought our country had come further than this, but it's obvious that we're just going backward.

I'm really glad to hear that you arent giving up though!

I agree
you'd think with all that has changed in the media alone witha acceptance of gays and gay shows that the rest of the world would get hip to the fact that not everyone has the same sexual orientation as the next and there needs to be room for that

I'll bet that the explosion of gays in the media might have something to do with why the conservative Christians have really starting pushing things like this.

Yes, psshaw is right!

I know, it seems so strange how much things have reversed as far as acceptance. And it's not just gays and lesbians either.

No way, giving up is never an option!

How did you get involved with campaigning like that?
Like if I wanted to go picket where would I find info for it in my area?

I've been involved in the gay community in Wichita for a while now. And a lot of my friends are VERY politically minded so I just kind of fell into it.

But the specific organization I was working with, Equality Kansas, got started through Meetup.com. It began as the HRC Meetup and we separated from that and went our own way and it has really grown.

Has Nebraska passed an amendment? Or are there talks of one?

I'll bet UNO has some sort of gay and lesbian organization and groups like that LOVE having straight allies. Or if you'd be more comfortable with like a College Democrats type of thing, I'm SURE they have one there that meets regularly. If you went to one of those meetings, you could meet like-minded people and get involved.

It's really just a matter of being part of the community. Meetings like those are a great way to meet people in general too!

I looked on the Meetup.com website and there is an HRC Meetup in Omaha, but it doesn't look very active, however there is another group that seems promising: Democracy ... )

Both my parents voted against it, if that is any consolation, after a great deal of convincing by me and my sister. I cannot vote in Kansas, otherwise I would have voted against it as well.
