dude. that seat thing happened to me when we went to see beck and the flaming lips. everyone else was dancing except for the people behind us in our section, and all i wanted to do was dance with the lips, and the people behind were such assholes and kept yelling at us all condescendingly like we were dumb kids who, god forbid, wanted to dance to the lips. and beck sucked. ANGST.

but anyway, yeah. that's wonderful you got to be so close. (o:

Oh god...you can NOT not dance to the Flips, man! Hell, I can't imagine seeing them at a sit down concert even. How old were the jerks behind you that they threw a fit?!

It is an obligation to stand up and dance! I have had experiences though where people have stood up and just stood there in front of me and I couldn't see...they didn't even stand because they couldn't see, they were in the front row and had no one in front of them...so they stood there and made it so I couldn't see and they didn't even dance! It pissed me off! But with certain performers you really do need to get up and dance! I'm glad you had fun :)
