It's Hard To Say: Chapter 9: All Alone He Turns To Stone While Holding His Breath Not To Die
They stood there eye to eye in one light room. The only sounds heard were the breaths coming from Bert, Dan, and Brandon. Sweat was pouring from Bert and Dan's faces. Dan was the more terrified person being that he was the one who took over Brandon's position as the drummer. Not ony sweat, but tears were streaming from his eyes.
Brandon looked right into Bert's eyes. Bert felt as if he was looking at his soul. Brandon had a slight hysteria about him as he spoke. "How could you? How could you, Bert? You replaced me with....with....with him!?!?" He pointed to Dan with the hand holding the axe. Dan clung to Bert even tighter. He had eventually dropped to his knees in terror. Bert whispered to Dan, "Dan, please dude you gotta get up. Come on I need you to get up."
"It's no use, Bert. He won't move. He knows what I'll do to him if he tries to get up and run", said Brandon with a smirk on his face. "And now, I'm gonna show you what I've wanted to do to you after you fired me from the band." He gripped the axe in his hand. He swung at Bert, but Bert dodged it, dragging Dan behind him. "Dan, go hide somewhere!! This is between me and him. You have no business in this!!" Dan nodded his head and ran for one of the bedrooms. Bert heard the door lock and knew he'd be safe. No became the real battle.
Brandon pursued Bert once again, swinging and chopping the areas that Bert would dodge. It took several minutes before Bert started to feel tired from running......bad sign. Brandon swung once more and this time, got Bert in his right shoulder. He made a semi-deep gash but it wasn't fatal. Bert collapsed to the ground in pain and found himself dragging his body to a corner of the room.
"It's all over...", he thought. As his eyes shut and his head leaned on his left shoulder, his last thoughts were of Dan, Jeph, Quinn, and Trish. As he thought of her name echoing through his mind, it had gotten louder and louder.
..........Trish..........Trish..........TRISH!!!!
"BERT!!!!"
Bert's eyes shot open. He knew that voice. Brandon was about to make the fatal blow before he heard the gunshots that had overtaken the echo of her name in his head. Brandon was frozen in an attack strike pose. His eyes her growing wider. After several seconds, blood started to gush from his mouth. The axe dropped from his hands. He fell to his knees with his head hanging. He moaned in pain as Bert looked on at the dying body before him. Brandon picked up his head to look at Bert's eyes once more. He muttered his final words..........and then..........death. He had collapsed in front of Bert with several fatal shots embedded within his chest along with two knives. But why was there more than there would be from an average gun? Bert had looked up to see Quinn, Jeph and Trish standing there with a variety of guns. Quinn had a shotgun, Jeph had a luger, and Trish had a variety of knives surrounding her belt. They looked like they came out of the Resident Evil movies, or even Rambo. Bert was surprised by their appearance, but more surprised as to how they found him and Dan.
Speaking of Dan, he had eventually realized that there was no more violent sounds coming from outside of the room he was locked in. He opened the door slowly just in case Bert had lost the battle, but the gunshots made him think that Bert was saved by someone. And was he ever right! He walked out of the room after seeing Brandon's deceased corpse on the ground. He saw Bert, wounded in the corner near the back door. He ran to him to see if he was still breathing, which he was. He then saw three people heading towards him and realized that it was Quinn, Jeph, and Trish. Jeph and Quinn picked up Dan who still had a shocked look on his face. "I'm so happy that you're okay! What were you thinking bringing him here, Dan?", said Quinn. Dan looked as if he was gonna cry. Jeph looked at Quinn with squinted eyes and smacked the back of his head. Quinn let out a small 'Ouch' and rubbed his head as he squinted at Jeph. "What's wrong with you, man? Can't you see that this isn't the time to be pissed at anyone? Dan almost got killed by the guy who's job he took over!" Jeph shoved Quinn out of the way and led Dan out to the car. Quinn let out a small 'Sorry' and followed behind. As he got to the door, he turned to see Trish tending to Bert's wounds. Bert looked up at Quinn who showed a small smirk on his face. He looked at Trish, then back to Bert, and mouthed to him, "She's a keeper." He pointed to Trish as he said that and then winked at him. Bert slowly nodded and dosed off. Quinn turned back towards the door chuckling and smiling, and left.
Trish and Bert were the only ones left in the house besides Brandon's body. Trish had eventually managed to move Bert away from the body and stretched out onto the couch. Bert's eyes had shut for a while when Quinn left, but he re-opened them to see the love of his life hovering over him tending to his wounds. He showed a smirk as she realized he was awake again. She smiled at him very lovingly. "Well, well, well, my guardian angel has come for me." She laughed as he cleaned up the blood that remained on his shoulder. He laughed too even though it pained him to do so from his injury. "I'm no angel. Let's just say, I'm your kitty cat that's here licking your wounds!" He smiled and chuckled. "You're the sexiest puddy tat to lick my wounds in my lifetime!" They both shared a laugh but it quickly disappeared. Bert had to tell her what was going on. And why he had traveled back to Utah.
He doesn't want to keep anymore secrets from someone he truly wants in his life for all eternity.
