Self-esteem was awful last week because I cut my hair too short (it was the last time I was going to pay $5 for a haircut), haven't ran or been to the gym in about a month, and complexion was(is) absolute rubbish. Its been better since. Hair is starting to grow back and I have been committing myself to a gym routine. But its pathetic how dependent

Food for thought though - I had a cousin ask me why jc ppl are such lemmings. (He's from poly) He said that he sees them put in so much effort into ns. But nobody really cares how you do in ns once you get out, so the only reason must be that they blindly try to do well in everything.
In case you haven't read my reply to your comment - yes you are included in our holiday plans - if you're coming in summer! Dax says you're coming over in Easter instead?

I put my heart into being a PC, I really did. Which is why I feel so frustrated when I see that the people around me don't. I'm not sure why I cared so much, but one was about proving to myself I could do something I'm not naturally inclined for (leadership, regimentation); the other was that it gave me a sense of purpose I didn't feel since competitive canoeing. It isn't about blindly trying to do well, but even if that's a point, deliberately underachieving makes no sense to me.
I don't know when I'm going up! I keep forgetting when you guys are free. But now I'm thinking May will be a good time. Do you have any idea when the scholarship processes start? When do I have to be in singapore for presentation ceremony, OBS, etc?

i dunno! we should, but i'm not coming down in dec - have I told you? i'm going to italy for two weeks and it's very bohua to fly back to sg for two weeks only. and my parents have stopped insisting i come back - so anyway if you get her something I'll pay for it ... or take it out of the $30 you owe me ... should be easypeasy to get bao a present though, anything to do with fashion or eating expensive food :)
i guess they get their sense of purpose outside camp; businesses, friends, reading, art, sports, anything really. you're one of the few who really got something meaningful out of army or thought it worth your while to make lemonade out of lemons. it's just sad but unavoidable that we have to force people into service against their will.
easter is march to april ... that's a bad time actually cos our exams start in may? but we could travel in the first week you come down if you're coming in april. i don't know when mfa does things but my ceremony was in late july.

i totes understand what u mean when u say u feel like u spent your time not clicking with anyone even though u made brilliant friends. i think it applies to me all the time! ok, maybe a few exceptions. i don't belong anywhere, i don't make friendships that last! i've since concluded tt there's something wrong with me lor. prolly autistic or my innate social skills are really bad. sobby sob.
anyway cheerios, u've ORDed and tt's what counts la. to hell with everyone who didn't appreciate ur effort and niceness, at least u know u didn't let urself down!
BTW is ur kitty still alive??

i don't think our social skills are lousy, i think we are just difficult people to really get close to.
anyway when do your exams end?? i want to jio you and yance out to keep in touch with my roots.
