Do You Wanna Start a War [2014 Toku]
My favorite video this year:
Polka Rangers. That's not even a question. It was something that I'd been wanting to do for years (every season in chronological order WITH STORY!), but never got around to really doing anything with it because I could never find the right song. Then I watched
The Polka Slayer and realized that a Weird Al polka medley could be perfect. So I went diving into his library, "Polka Face" starting playing, and it all just clicked. And it turned out amazing.
My least favorite video this year:
I think I mention every year that I hate this question, but it's I Could Get Used to This. It's not horrible but, I just didn't give it all of the attention that it deserved. I went into it with basically the same mindset as when I edited
Comeback a few years ago: an unhealthy/problematic relationship to cutesy song that is actually pretty creepy, but watchable to fans and non-fans alike. However, I feel like there are just tiny things keeping me from enjoying it more. The number one thing being that it doesn't have enough overlay variants, instead just recycling the same couple over and over again. I should have either made more, or just not bothered at all.
Most successful video:
Brennan Mejia retweeted my Dino Charge trailer! I'm not following him, so I didn't notice, but someone posted a comment on the video that he retweeted it and that just made my day. And it was double nice because someone else liked it enough to tweet it to him, and then Brennan himself liked it enough to retweet it.
Video most underappreciated:
Everybody Wants You, just because Umeko is a flawless creature and everyone needs to watch that video. Multiple times.
Being serious though, it would probably go to Me the Machine: my artsy vid. There's not much of a story to it, it's just me being abstract, which would turn some people off.
Most fun to make:
Lowlife. I had just finished watching the first four seasons, so I then decided to attack Sony Vegas with Duke Crocker.
Also, Everybody Wants You, because it's impossible to not be happy when you're constantly looking at that adorable creature.
Video with the single sexiest/most bad ass moment:
For the first part: Lowlife. And I'm not even gonna say what moment because it should be obvious. Although, Me the Machine as a whole is basically robot porn.
As far as bad ass moments though, either "impaled by trident" or "eaten by monster bride" from Do You Wanna Start a War. Or just Do You Wanna Start a War in general, since it's basically the biggest moments of Super Sentai/Kamen Rider/Power Rangers for the entire year, but those two in particular are above and beyond.
Biggest vid fail:
Does having to render Do You Wanna Start a War three times count? Other than that, I can't really think of anything.
Hardest video to make:
I honestly can't think of anything all that hard this year. The closest being Buffy and the Mystic Force, just because the video required more layers than my program allows. Which meant I basically had to render a vid that looked bare bones and then put the actual show footage on top of that.
Most unintentionally telling video:
I can't think of anything really telling from this year's vids, except maybe the inclusion of Go-busters in Do You Wanna Start a War. I am still not ready to let that show go, and you have no idea how big the smile on my face was when I realized that footage came out in 2014.
The things I've learned this year:
I can't say that I really learned anything this year. At least not anything major.
In 2014:
At the end of last year, I mostly just said that I wanted to keep vidding. And I've done that. Although, I've dropped my number of completed vids AGAIN. Last year I finished 12, this year it's only 11.
I also technically made another Buffy the Vampire Slayer vid, which I said that I didn't think I was going to do again. Ha! Take that me!
Also, not one but TWO new 100% sentai vids; and also TWO new vids for Haven, which not only had I never vidded before, but I hadn't seen before this year period.
In 2015:
Next year I would mostly just like to keep my vidding average at about a dozen a year, and also to get these two PR Samurai vids finished, since they both are about halfway done.
