Two French colleagues asked me to arbitrate in an argument today about whether or not unproper "is a word" (after it was used in an interview by a UN spokesman, whose first language was not English).

So, uh, stupid question: Does Donne mean "wrong shapes", or does he mean "shapes not their own"?

I guess it could be either, but I interpreted it as "wrong".

Isn't it?? This is why I like having a journal...in real life I don't think I know anyone whose nose I could shove this under and say LOOK AT THIS AWESOME SENTENCE. or maybe I do, but they're all hundreds of miles away.
