Thanks. Here we call them Goldfinches, cause the males are a bright golden yellow in the summertime. I keep trying to catch all the other birds that come to eat seed but these guys sort of take all the perching places.

Thanks. I would love having walnuts.....if I could crack open the damn things! Of course I still would not need 18 fully mature trees.....too many even if I DID manage to eat some. For some reason walnuts grow really well in this part of the state......they are here in abundance.

Nice pictures! Don't get me started on the walnuts. A neighbor has a tree and it drops all of its walnuts in our driveway*grrrrrrrrrr* Scares you half to death when you drive over them and they pop. So messy!!!!!

Glad you like the pictures, thanks. Funny you should mention driving over walnuts......one of the suggestions for removing the husk is to put them in a plastic bag and drive over them! Ugh!

I am having a ball with my camera! I just wish I could catch some of the other birds that come to feed. Oh well, I guess I will in time. I am still learning all the different settings on this camera. I told my son I wanted simple....point and shoot....and he gets me one with a bunch of options! The instruction book is 1/2 inch thick!
Hope the move continues to go well. How is 'your' girl?

We feed black oil sunflower seeds. We buy a 50lb bag a week in the summer and 3-4 a week in the winter. Winter is more because of the large flocks of turkeys we get. Last year only 75 but the year before we had 93 that came every day. Three times a day!

It really is. In the summer turkeys come in small groups, 2-6 or so. The run away from us. In the winter when the snow covers most of their food, they run to us when we come out to feed them. I can stand right in the middle of the flock and throw seed! Of course I have to watch where I step cause they get so close! All the people driving by stop to watch. Especially the hunters that had no luck stalking a turkey during turkey season! (I have no hunting signs posted all over my property.)
