Today I got turned down by a computer for a customer care job. I then went to the career center, where I found I didn't qualify for any of the jobs available today. I'm starting to feel a sense of futility. I don't know where or how I will live if things don't change.

After more than a year my back started hurting. And here I was thinking and hoping that I had felt the last of my back troubles. I can't figure out what, if anything, I did to set this off. Oh well, a couple of days and it will go away, like it always does unless I wrench it worse.

I was at the Career Center, in the middle of an involved application process, when my wireless phone rang. "This is so-and-so from Chattanooga State Eastgate campus. The ice cream machine is on the fritz. Could you come over and take a look?"
