[Plot Post] The Wagon Comes...

Nov 06, 2009 16:46

Today's reality is no less bent than the last. Mist hangs low, not quite crystallized to frost yet. And finally they arrive.

In the cool of mid-afternoon, the sound of steady drums and melodious voices wafts and settles over the city. It is the restless road-song of nomads and wanderers, and it stirs at every heart ( Read more... )

[Roxas comes to the carts, glancing around tentatively. The last time people wandered into World's End like this, they were Can-Toi, but this looks like a...market, if anything.

He's not sure what to do, but he approaches anyway, glancing around.]

[One of strangers notices him, steps forward lithe and swathed in the colors of autumn.]

Who are you?

[The voice like like two overlapping, one chanting over the other, and one hand beckons the boy closer.]

First to come, first to seek,
First to brave the foreigner,
What are your ways?

[Riddlers.]

I'm Roxas.

[A pause, and he raises an eyebrow.] ...My ways?

Roxas...

[In the span of moments, it is turned over thoughtfully a hundred times over on their mouths. A thing of importance.]

Such a brief name. No sobriquets? No titles or lineages or occupations? Who else are you?

[Strangers who aren't using the communicator, and brought stuff? Rion's a little wary of them, but they have things pulling their carts that look... sort of like Pokemon. That's... huh.

He'll approach them somewhat cautiously, though intrigued by the wagons, intrigued by... well, them. He's not always a bright one, is he?

His hands quickly come up to start signing, hoping that maybe for once somebody knows sign language.]

A-are you new here? How'd you bring your stuff with you?

[One, three feet taller than Rion and with a willowy-slender build, sets down a glassblower's tube and crouches gracefully, poised curious to watch him. At first the creature only mimics his gesturing a few times-

It scoops up something like dust from the surface of a worktable and blows on it softly, sending shimmering, writhing clouds of smoke into the air, which twist themselves into words]

One Who Dances With Hands? One who weaves words without voice...

We are older than Time-Not, but this is our first invitation to World's End.

[THEY UNDERSTAND THEM. Rion looks absolutely thrilled with this... uh, person. Guy? Girl? Most of the time he's pretty good about what gender someone is, but... well, okay. Not a huge deal, especially because they know what he's saying and OH MY GOD THEY MADE WORDS WITH DUST THAT'S SO NEAT * 3*]

You were invited here? By the Gods?

[Rion immediately looks suspicious. Oh, no, no, not again.]

[From beneath the veil, this Raksha smirks coyly, features hesitant to take on further definition...but that pair of hands moves in another flourish.]

And an envoy of the Unconquered Sun, no less.

Who would dare refuse such a proposition!

[Ryu gazed at this new discovery, quite confused. He felt no danger from these people, but instinct still forced him to be wary, resting a hand against the hilt of his sword.]

...What is all this?

[The Sword, naturally, is the first notable thing they can see and give name. A pale haired woman in sea foam garb steps forward, extending a hand.]

Warrior, come closer and see.

[Ryu gives a moment's glance to the woman that approached him. For a moment, he lowered his guard..]

What am I to see?

What indeed!

[She gestures grandly to the wagons and the beasts that pull them]

'All of this', and more besides! Harvest your visions now, then wait for dawn's breaking! Rest assured, Nameless Warrior, we will marvel you.

[Al is fascinated by all this. He's only been here for a day and already this place doesn't seem as bad as what he's been told. The music oddly reminds him somewhat of the music he heard at Dante's home... It's beautiful and he's awed by all the different sights.

He's content to not bother anyone, looking from afar.]

[One takes something like a silvery-shaped egg, carrying it to the fountain in the center square. Once set down in the water it immediately sprouts white vines, which extend their tendrils around the fountain and begin to wind slowly into a small tree.]

[Al's eyes widen in amazement. It reminds him of the plant alchemy the Tringham brothers could do, in a way.... except this plant seems to be growing all on it's own.]

"And....who are you?"

[One finally prompts, seeming to glide closer, all veils and the hint of a smile.]

[Two of the Raksha lean their heads together and whisper, making vague gestures toward the broad-shouldered figure. One giggles, and receives a cuff from the other, who steps forward and opens his arms grandly.]

Hither comes one more!

[The Raksha dips into a low, sweeping bow, folds of floaty fabric billowing outward.]

Why, we find ourselves among you to trade and create, to hear great tales and spread our own!
