I was an egg donor several times during grad school. Granted that was financially motivated, but it fit well with my obsession with pregnancy, childbirth and fertility. Since I helped random strangers with infertility, I would would be much more fulfilled I'm certain by assisting friends. I will certainly keep you in mind if ever said situation arises.

I have to agree that, yes, official adoption may be a
waste of time for you guys. But a private adoption...?
Or is that too expensive?

I'd hand you my surprise child in a heartbeat. That being said, I think my baby-making pipes may be broken as well.
