First and foremost:  huzzah! at long last I have finished the Opus, the Book That Would Not End, and it is now in the hands of my publisher. Ran full-speed into a bug in word press, apparently a conflict between a menu widget and the particular theme I was using. In one blow it wiped out 6 hours of work, eating all the sidebar configurations I'd been doing as if they'd never existed.
