Just to let you know, I am plundering your LJ for icons. :) pronker May 29 2012, 04:32:18 UTC
That's a fine article; the last para especially. Also, 'Rogue Reader' may become my new username.

I encourage such plundering! Plunder away! ;) wyncatastrophe May 29 2012, 04:36:20 UTC
Rogue Reader would make an excellent username. Someday I would like to be known as the_textual_poacher, lol. :)

Yeah, I came for rob. And it felt gooooood!!

That is a most excellent username. 'Poaching' has all those royal/British/to the manor born connotations. Like, taking a King's deer was liable for the death penalty, and, I guess, taking an Earl's deer was to lose one's favorite toe?

I recommend the shirtless Anakin icons. But that's just me. wyncatastrophe May 29 2012, 04:43:26 UTC
Ha! Yes, all of that. But I can recommend the book by Henry Jenkins, Textual Poachers - it's a good read, one of the better offerings of Cultural Studies scholarship in the U.S., and while occasionally a bit on the Othering side does take fandom activities fairly seriously as sources of cultural value. So, there's that. :)
