so, rather than ecocide or genocide, what's the word for systematically trying to exterminate an entire species of animals?
(which is to say, there is such a small gene pool of these left that every one killed is a tremendous loss.)

specicide? seems too close to "the death of falsehood" for me. linguistics peoples?

I would think the term "genocide" would still be applicable. "Destruction of a specific genotype".

i guess so. it still seems too likely to get caught up in the enormous historical human connotations of that word.

perhaps the distinction of intraspecies vs. interspecies genocide would clear that up.
