This woman called 911 because the burger joint wouldn't make her burger the way she wanted it. She wanted them to "send an officer down" to sort it out.

The other day, while being kindly taken to Templemeads in a police car, someone pulled out in front of it (a MARKED car, with lights and all...) without signalling. Having been asked why, he said, "I didn't see you, mate".

Once back on the road, he then did 40 in a 30 zone, with the cop car *right behind* him! My comment that he was a prime candidate for Darwin went "whoosh" but still... I have no idea what people think the police are for, anymore, is my point...

To be fair, in some areas, there is no 'local' number for non-emergencies like asking the kind firemen to rescue your moggie from the treetops, the *only* way to get in touch with any and all emergency services is to dial 911.

That said - calling the cops to get a burger made...

And the things people ring the ambulance service for - I'm not even going to go there...
