I just bought a skein of yarn today. It's 100 grams/420 meters, 80% wool and 20% polyamide and variegated with all of the colors of the rainbow. In other words, I have over 450 yards of sock yarn and I have no idea what to make. I was thinking socks and/or fishnet stockings, but that seems like a waste. I want to make something visible and

Like I said before, check Ravelry. There are scarves, belts and shawls that use sock yarn. Or gloves, with or without fingers, although with that much yarn, you could do a few pairs.

i definitely say use it for some arm warmers (fingerless gloves) - make a hat to go with them even! - and fishnet stockings are made to be SEEN lady - so if you have enough for armwarmers and fishnets, you should TOTALLY do it
