I was so surprised by this the first time I saw it. As a Gaeta fan, it's an incredibly emotionally satisfying piece of writing, everything one wishes Gaeta would say to Baltar. (Even though I ship them, canon Gaius TOTALLY deserves to hear all that, regardless of the pen stabbing.)
I loved the formality of it, just barely restraining the seething vitriol underneath. Also, I loved that you made Felix notice Baltar in sickbay, and not be moved by it at all. I think in canon, Felix hates him that much, but he also can't quite seem to let go (c.f. that cigarette lighting moment in the Season 3 deleted scenes. What was he doing even acknowledging the man?) I think he needs to write a letter like that to really be done with the whole thing.
