So as you all know, ficathon 2010 is about to start (... well, when I say *about to start*, I mean, whenever I am not working like a madwoman and have finished coding and uploaded the official page and images).
As things stand, everything will be delayed by about 2-3 weeks. See table for comparison and contrast.

These dates are approximates. They change year to year depending on when the Sundays fall. Also, I hope the mid-September deadline means that it won't clash too heavily with some of the other communities you might be involved in (e.g.
sm_fanswap,
sailormoonland, etc.)
*Normal is an incredibly liberal and relative term. This is how things ought to run. Many a year (actually pretty much every year) the schedule hasn't been stuck to ... -_-;;;
**Likewise fingers crossed this timeline is actually stuck to ...
There will be no extension period to be granted this year. It got a little crazy last year as some authors wrote down to the wire (I sincerely apologise to any who might've found me fanatical and scary as I chased some of your arses).
Some of you aren't sure what to write so here are some guiding tips:
1. No 20-page novellas. As much as I love epics, I cannot afford to print them. Speaking of which, my original intention to print all the ficathon stories into one volume as the prize - last year alone was 350+ pages - I'm afraid to think how many pages all five years together will make, i.e. there will still be a prize, only not so big.
2. Fairy tales are the theme. One of my favourite genres is twisted fairytales - classics reinterpreted. That was the main drive, but you guys know that I'm happy with a well-written story. However since I'd like to design a fancy template with Ye Olde English script, it'll be nice if we could stick to fairy tales as close as possible. So as tempting as it is, try to stay away from myths and legends. Leave it to another year, yeah?
3. Begin writing now if you like. The sooner it's finished, the less you need to agitate over it. And the less I need to chase you down (I'm not good with the friendly but firm constant chasing).
I think that's all. I'll try to get things going ASAP, so that it'll finish on time and I can breathe a sigh of relief of another year over. ^_^
