So today, I went through old entries on LJ...which was pretty funny...but I found this, and wanted to do it again and see how different my answers are now from 3 years ago when I did this. I think it will be funny. Plus, after reading my prior entries, I was a real idiot in 2003. I hope for the next 70 or so years I'm alive, I don't look back on the prior 3 years and decide that I was an idiot. How depressing and sucky.
1. What did you do in 2003/2006 that you'd never done before?
2003: Moved out of my house.
2006: Went to California.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
2003: I didn't have any last year. This year, my resolution is definitely to curb the assumptions and get the real deal, because I found out how much it sucks when people assume stuff.
2006: Didn't have any last year. My new one involves doing more for the health/sustainability of the environment and encouraging people around me to do the same (without being preachy).
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
2003: I wish!
2006: Thank God, no.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
2003: Thank goodness, no.
2006: Thank goodness, no.
5. What countries did you visit?
2003: Oh, the only country TO visit. Canada to the MAXX.
2006: My passport saw no use this year. Sadness.
6. What would you like to have in 2004/2007 that you lacked in 2003/2006?
2003: Unlimited funds. Straight A's. Oh, shit. Senior year grades don't count. Because it's senior year. Straight A's in college.
2006: Umm...if things could stay about the same as they were in 2006, I wouldn't be too bummed. Ok, but I wouldn't mind like, money to go on vacation.
7. What date from 2003/2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
2003: June 12th. Graduation day.
2006: Oh goodness. Umm. I am really not sure. There are many days that I remember, but not the exact date. Maybe November 7th. That was a pretty important day, I would dare say.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
2003: Getting into the college I wanted to go to.
2006: Getting to know myself a lot more, and actually liking myself. Harder than you would think, I suppose.
9. What was your biggest failure?
2003: I had a few. One involved me just being a tool. Who wants to talk about their failures?! I couldn't make this public.
2006: I don't think I was as good as a friend as I could have been.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
2003: Fortunately, nothing past the usual change of seasons illness.
2006: Yes, the flu. Jesus Christ. Don't get the flu.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
2003: wtf? I don't know.
2006: Hmmm. I am not quite sure.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
2003: Liza's. She stepped up in multiple situations and proved that she's an awesome friend.
2006: I was pretty happy with most people in my life this year and their behaviors. They all deserve celebration.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
2003: I am not going to name any particular names here. A few get the prize.
2006: Anyone who spoke out against gay marriage. Seriously, people, civil rights are going to tromp religious beliefs every day of the week in the courts anyway. If it doesn't affect you, shut the fuck up.
14. Where did most of your money go?
2003: Haha, where DIDN'T my money go. Gas. Insurance. Fooooood. Clothes. My laptop. Fucking laptop. Books. Fucking books.
2006: Buying lunch at work instead of making it and bringing it. Umm, yeah, you try denying yourself from buying the Wrap all the time. Yeah, see?
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
2003: Living in the best city in the world with some kick-ass people.
2006: Moving out of my shit-tastic apartment in Mission Hill.
16. What song will always remind you of 2003/2006?
2003: Since getting close to Sham? Any rap song ever.
2006: Don't Stop Me Now by Queen. Best "work sucks" anthem to throw on ever.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
2003:
i. happier or sadder? I am about as happy as I was at this time last year. Less stressed.
ii. thinner or fatter? Maybe a few pounds lighter?
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer times 420.
2006:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Same
iii. richer or poorer? Richer
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
2003: Reading.
2006: Hiking/camping/being outdoors
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
2003: Watching TV. Ohhh, sweet, sweet television.
2006: Yeah, probably TV, but I definitely don't watch much TV these days. So good for me! Some day it will probably be limited to Nova and Seinfeld reruns and SVU.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
2003: With my Dad's side of the family.
2006: Same. And Joe.
22. Did you fall in love in 2003/2006?

2006: I would say I already did in 05.
23. How many one-night stands?
2003: None that I can remember....Just kidding. Really, none. Really. I swear.
2006: Ummm, like, 365, but it's always the same dude and he always ends up sleeping over anyways and has a toothbrush and outfits at my house...so I guess this is a little more than a fling. Fuck.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
2003: The Daily Show
2006: Too many to name.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

2006: Good answer, 2003 Katie.
26. What was the best book you read?
2003: The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
2006: The Devil Wears Prada. Just kidding, that book sucked! Cradle to Cradle, which emphasizes and gives hope to the ideas of sustainability for the world. You should check it out.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
2003: Oh, please. I love anything that dates back earlier than 1995, so I am always rediscovering stuff.
2006: Yeah, whatever. The same, I guess.
28. What did you want and get?
2003: An awesome new group of friends, including rediscovering/discovering/maintaining old ones.
2006: Lovin.
29. What did you want and not get?
2003: More money for school. Due to my own laziness.
2006: We'll see what I got for Christmas.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
2003: Scarface. Not new. I had never seen it. It was awesome.
2006: The Departed and Borat...tied.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
2003: Haha, I don't freaking remember. I am sure it was awesome. It was my 18th birthday, and when your b-day is at the very beginning of the year, it's hard to remember. It would be better if I filled this out after THIS birthday. Oh, wait! My birthday was awesomely dragged out this year because Sean took me to a Red Sox game in June for my birthday. Against the Tigers. The Sox won by a ridiculous amount.
2006: I got wasted in California for my 21st. Good times with good strangers.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
2003: Wow. Less inaccurate assumptions.
2006: If more friends hadn't taken off. But good for them, really.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003/2006?
2003: Umm. Me buying shit when I needed it. Me wearing it. Birkenstocks & socks were my fashion staple, though.
2006: I've learned from this whole Birkenstocks & socks debacle, but the core concepts haven't changed since '03.
34. What kept you sane?
2003: Awesome friends.
2006: I kept myself sane. That's the only way to be.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
2003: Ohhh, we've got a major tie here. Bruce Springsteen, Judd Nelson, and of course, J-Tim.
2006: Um. I totally want to fuck George Clooney. I am not sure if that's what this is asking.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
2003: The fucking unjust, ridiculous war. Nothing political has pissed me off more. Oh, wait. Except the tax cuts. Umm, so I guess the political issue that stirred me the most is G. B. being a fucking incompetent moron that's living in the present and doesn't give a flying fuck about the future. Sorry. I hate him. I don't care if Colby's dad grabbed his ass!! Hahahaha.
2006: All of them. Politics is such a dastardly interest that I wish I didn't care about at all.
37. Who did you miss?
2003: Shelby. And Meredith and Emily and Reta. I don't see them much anymore.
2006: Liza and Sham and Secor.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
2003: Don't make me choose. Pretty much everyone I met rocked the casbah.
2006: My new roomies...in my current apartment. Not the one in May.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003/2006:
2003: Assumptions suck balls. <-- Well said, 2003 Katie
2006: Umm, I learned a lot this year. I found out that searching for and finding what you stand for is a comforting feeling. Also, knowing exactly what you want currently is a way to be and stay happy. Thinking about the future takes too much energy and is pointless. You should feel happy the majority of the time. If you don't, you need to evaluate why you don't feel that way. If you're with someone, make sure you think they are the funniest, most admirable person you know. It'll save you a lot of time. That's who you will end up finding happiness with eventually. Also, if you're lucky, keep it in mind and never take it for granted. Say thank you and I love you to people that deserve it. Hug your friends all the time. Tune in to your friends' lives. You'll learn as much, if not more, from their lives as you will from yours. Yeah. I don't know. Those are a few observations I feel confident making.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
2003: There are places I remember/All my life/Though some have changed.
2006: Don't stop me now! I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball.
