Okay, here is link for State of California Employment Development Department: http://edd.ca.gov/Unemployment/?gclid=CIrQhdLMpJ4CFRgbawodI31clQ

If you know what your end date is (and you do) you can apply. Don't wait: it may take them some time to process you.

Are you getting any severance? How about Cobra (extended health care benefits)?

Have you got a resume? Need help? Are you on LinkedIn? If not, here's the link (I highly recommend it): http://www.linkedin.com

You have a lot of experience, which is good, but have you thought about going back to school?

I have looked at the unemployment dept website...they are saying I cant apply until I am officially out of work...I'll call them on friday and get the real answer.

I am getting severance which will help. I get my benefits through Eric's work, so we should be fine there.

I havent got a resume at the moment. We need to try and get one of the old computers up and running...I think I have an old copy there.

I am not on LinkedIn...not sure what it is, but will go look right now.

I do have experience but it is very proprietary to verizon/mci...

I have considered going back to school..many times..I want to. Money has always been an issue. I was planning on starting classes this next semester...but we'll have to see if we can swing it. I need to do it in order to be marketable at all. I'd like as a start to even get some direct job to work kind of certificate...but I have some classes I have to take before I can even start that. We'll see what happens on that front.

Thank you so much for the advice.
