Summary: Alphonse has trouble sleeping.
"Nii-san? Nii-san?" came a soft toned voice. He shook the body next to him lightly, stirring the white sheets on top of the both of them. "I had a bad dream, nii-san! Can I sleep with you tonight?" A grumble was heard from the other body. "Nii-sannnn! I had a bad dream!" the boy said a bit louder. Slowly, the other's eyes began to open.
"Al..." Ed muttered. He looked at the clock beside him. "It's three AM! What do you want?"
"Niiii-sannnnnn..." Al pouted. "I had a nightmare! Can I stay in bed with you?"
"You had a bad dream?" the older brother said, suddenly awake. That was so like him, to forget about everything and focus soully on his younger sibling. Immediately, he wrapped his arms around Al and embraced him. "Sure,"Ed smiled. Al gently laid beside Ed, slightly nuzzling his neck. Smiling, Ed turned around to face Al.
"Yes, nii-san?" Al asked, realizing his brother was going to ask or tell him something.
"As long as I'm around...I promise...no, I swear, to protect you. Now, no more nightmares," Ed waved an index finger at Al, casuing him to giggle. Al slowly touched his brother's lips with a pale finger.
"You don't have to tell me that. I know already," he smirked. "Just promise me one thing, nii-san."
"Okay, what might that be?"
"You have to stay around. Forever."
"Of course, I have to stay around. I love you; I have to protect you. No matter what," Ed smiled. "Forever," he whispered.
