happenings!

last saturday, my mom called me from a yard sale. it was early and i was not ready to be up after a late night at jordann's camp, so i just let her leave a voicemail. usually i don't even listen to voicemails from the moms (she leaves me A LOT of messages) and just eventually call her back. last saturday, though, i listened to the voicemail, and only a few minutes after the initial wake-up call.

good thing, too. she said she was at a yard sale and there was a black kitten playing outside. she jokingly asked the woman if the cat was for sale. he wasn't for sale, though, he was free! since moving out, i've really missed living with cats. i'd been telling my mother i wanted one, but couldn't really afford it and she agreed, so we left it at that. but both she and don fell in love with this kitten and said they'd each pay for half of his start-up costs if i wanted him, otherwise they were thinking of taking him home.

so i brought him home. he just sat in my mom's lap and looked out the window on the ride to my apartment. he's real cute. he's all black and his those intense green cat eyes that cats will have (imagine!) and a long nose. he's an absolute terror and i haven't gotten a good night's sleep since he's moved in and people keep asking me if i'm cutting myself because he likes to attack feet and hands in the night.

it's okay though, i absolutely love him after a week! oh, and it took me a few days to name him, but he's walcott. he's so affectionate, too. cute. i finally (today) got around to clipping his claws because damn were they sharp. he's so good, he just sat there and let me do it. and lets me look in his mouth and ears and all of those things you're supposed to get a cat accustomed to as a kitten.

thursday i brought him to my mom's so he could meet his brother and sister. baby just sniffed and wasn't too interested (but then, he's the most laid-back/cool cat ever) hazel hid under the bed and when walcott went to explore the area she growled. i think hazel is upset with me, too. she used to spend all of her time in my room. until i moved out and took my bed and her quiet spot. and now i have a new kitty. she doesn't hang out with me anymore when i visit. it's upsetting, but she'll get over it. i hope.

walcott needs to get his shots and be fixed ASAP. so i can take him for walks. oh, i'm going to be that crazy lady. i've only ever had outdoor cats and i feel horrible for confining walcott to this small apartment (so small i don't have any way of keeping him out of my bedroom when i'm trying to sleep). so yes, i'm going to buy him a harness and a leash and work on getting him used to it. i know he'll like going out.

so pictures!

and hey, well i'm at it, here are some pictures of my apartment.
