Why Apple Sucks

This journal has been brought on by my recent problems with my ipod. I bought it at the CU book store about a year ago, and it was from then on designated "My Precious." My precious cost me $300 that I saved for a long time for. I could have bought 100 cups of coffee with that ipod (futurama reference, anyone?) but instead I bought My Precious. And ( Read more... )

Apple designs iPods to fail after a certain period of time. Few people actually know, realize, or acknowledge this. The original iPod was designed to fail after 6 months. You heard me right. 6 months. Anyone who has a first gen iPod knows this, becuase the battery wouldn't work at ALL after the first year. Moreover, Apple charged you $150 to replace it (originally). Now, most iPod repairs cost $50, still a heafty fee ( ... )

Also, if you are in the market for a new notebook and you want it to be reliable, you have two real choices. Dell or hp. Now, I don't mean the "crappy" Dell and hp notebooks. I mean, the real stuff. The Dell and hp BUSINESS line of notebooks. IBM (now Lenovo) has some great stuff too. 3-year standard warranty? Yes please.

The hp line is particularly awesome. The Dell line, slightly cheaper.

hey thanks! Right now I've got a Dell inspiron 5150 with a gig of ram and a pentium 4 ... it's pretty powerful for when I got it (a little over a year ago) but it weighs like a million pounds and I was looking for something a little more portable. I had been looking into HP as well as Toshiba, which a lot of my computer dork friends swear by. I recently changed over to computer science so I need something that's not going to explode after I own it for a month. Of course, at the moment I can't afford any laptop, so the point is rather moot, but I'm looking for things to get once I save up enough.

Those who swear by Toshiba are most likely "old school". I say that because Toshiba was THE laptop brand back in the day. Back in the day, they were king too. Now, the Toshiba notebook line is just a shadow of what it once was. They still make them, but they don't support them. I wouldn't touch a Toshiba if I was looking for something serious. If I was looking for a widescreen gaming notebook...maybe. Otherwise I wouldn't seriously consider them ( ... )

Wow. You know, I'm so glad I've never been interested in iPods at all... or mp3 players at all. As long as I have my imported cds and my winamp playlist with 664 songs, none of which have I paid any money for... (read: downloaded illegally)... but then, I never take my cds anywhere so I've never really been bothered by it.
