I don't think they're out of character at all. Annie is kind of a badass when she needs to be, she's not a doormat and it's nice to see her sticking up for herself. That said I really felt bad for Jeff, he's so messed up. I'm officially hooked on this story, I cannot wait for the next chapter!

Thank you for saying so. I really wanted to lean on the fact that Annie should have taken a stronger stance against Jeff following Paradigms of Human Memory and this is how she might have developed in my head!canon.
