Base Artes
Fang Blade - This'll probably get used a lot due to the sentimentality behind it; it's a slash down followed by a slash up in the air.
Sonic Thrust - Thrusts his sword at the target.
Demon Fist - Um... I'm actually not sure, 'cause I never use it. XD The guide says it releases a powerful shock wave on the ground, so we'll just take it's word for it. XD
Havoc Strike - Jumps up and... well the guide says he kicks down, but it looks more like it's sword first rather than foot first to me. :x
Steel - God, this is so useless; Asch glows red for a little bit, upping his chance to land a critical hit, but it's for such a short time that there's almost no point. :x
Rending Thrust - Thrusts his sword at the target, then knocks them up with an uppercut.
Raging Blast - Punches at an enemy that sends a blast through them. I personally ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a Grass Chamber on this, so unless Lae says otherwise, prepare to have stuff yoinked.
FOF Changes
Lightning Tiger Blade - Like Fang Blade, only with the added bonus of a lightning strike before Asch comes back down to the ground. Activated by a Wind FOF.
Quote: "Feel the roar of lightning! Lightning Tiger Blade!"
Burning Havoc - Like Havoc Strike, only he's ON FIRE!!! *cough* Activated by a Fire FOF.
Quote: "Begone! Burning Havoc!"
Frigid Blast - Like Raging Blast, only with ice instead. Activated by a Water FOF.
Quote: "A cold death awaits! Frigid Blast!"
Coil - Beh, I don't even know what it looks like. More glowiness. Meh.
Quote: "Power! Coil!"
Rending Quake - Um... I honestly have no idea what it looks like. XD "A thrust attack followed by an earth powered uppercut." Thanks guide. XDDD Activated by an Earth FOF.
Quote: "I'll destroy you! Rending Quake!"
Arcane Artes
Lightning Blade - A thrust with a bit of a charge. ;3
Slag Assault - Jumps and hits the ground, sending bits of it at the enemy. Nice for when something's coming toward him and he doesn't have time for his Fonic Artes.
Sonic Blast - Kind of like Sonic Thrust, only more hits and has a very strong chance of sending an enemy flying.
Fang Blade Havoc - combines Fang Blade and Havoc Strike.
Fang Blade Rage - combines Fang Blade and Raging Blast.
Guardian - His defensive skill; raises his sword defensively as a fonic barrier surrounds him. Usually cuts damage down to almost nothing, though essentially useless in the face of Mystic Artes.
Raging Havoc - combines Raging Blast and Havoc Strike.
Guardian Field - Spins around and plants his sword in the ground, damaging enemies and healing allies (not including himself) for a little bit. Really, though, it takes so long to go through, that it's better for healing then attack.
Rending Fang Blade - combines Rending Thrust and Fang Blade.
Rending Havoc - combines Rending Thrust and Havoc Strike.
Rending Blast - combines Rending Thrust and Raging Blast.
Light Spear Cannon - Knocks an enemy up into the air, and then thrusts up at it.
Devil's Inferno - I honestly never use it. Mr. Guide says that it's a blast from the sword that sends enemies flying. We'll take his word for it.
Swallow Fury - Okay, I admit, this is my favorite skill. 8D Asch dashes through the enemy before trying to knock them up into the air. If successful, he jumps after them, kicking and attacking with his sword a few times, before letting them drop.
FOF Changes
Guardian Frost - Same as Guardian Field, only doesn't take as long, doesn't have the healing effect, and ice shoots up. Activated by a Water FOF.
Quote: "Freeze! Guardian Frost!"
Light Blast - Same as Light Spear Cannon, only shoots a blast of light out of his sword. Activated by a Wind FOF.
Quote: "A blinding edge! Light Blast!"
Devil's Maw - Same as Devil's Inferno, only with rocks flying out... I guess? :x Activated by an Earth FOF.
Quote: "Rise, jaws of the earth! Devil's Maw!"
Shadow Fury - Same as Swallow Fury, only hits for more, and has a cool effect around it. XD Activated by a Fire FOF.
Quote: "Begone! Shadow Fury!"
Mid Fonic Artes
Stalagmite - Makes a large rock jut out of the ground, before breaking apart on an enemy. This only generates a 50% FOF, so Asch would need to cast two before he had enough power to use any of his FOF Changes with it.
Quote: "O maddening gale of the spirits of the earth! Stalagmite!"
High Fonic Artes
Icicle Rain - Exactly what the spell says; rains icicles down at the target.
Quote: "O frigid blades pour forth! Icicle Rain!"
Explosion - Again, like the spell says; creates an explosion around the target.
Quote: "Bring all to ash and ruin! Explosion!"
Thunder Blade - A blade of lightning drops on the enemy before exploding.
Quote: "O darkened storm cloud loose thy blade and run mine enemies through! Thunder Blade!"
Mystic Arte
Rending Saber - ...eh, don't take my word for it.
Just watch the video. Quote: "The weak should stay back! Annihilation! Rending Saber!" (note that I'll sometimes leave the first part out.)
Phew, damn. Grumpy redhead has a lot of skills. As you could probably tell from some of the descriptions, he won't be using all of these, 'cause I don't use all of these. Quite a few of them are pretty useless when you think about it.
Some notes on his general attack:
To use MMO jargon, Asch is a tank. I know gameplay wise, him and Luke are supposed to be near identical, but to me he always seemed to hit harder (even after you regain him temporarily at that mushroom place, where that nice little Maestro Sword of his isn't so nice anymore). He seems to be slower than Luke as well, and I've noticed quite a few times where Anise would have several attacks in before Asch, whereas she'd only get in one hit before Luke got to an enemy.
Or maybe it's just me being starry eyed. idk
At any rate, in close combat, he's brutal, that's all there is to it. He can play the mage, but he clearly doesn't like to (considering his low inventory of spells) unless it's to benefit his own skills.
As for defense, again, he's a tank and used to going solo to boot. He can probably take a few more hits compared to Luke. What he has going for him is that he rarely shows when he gets injured unless it's really freaking bad; nice for playing mind games on people.
On hyperressonance, it's simple: Asch doesn't use it unless there are a lot of people that are about to die, and he's certain that whatever's causing the dying can be taking out in one shot. He has better control than Luke, but it's still an unstable power no matter how much control over it he may have.
