Emily was a bit different than all of the other Ravenclaws sitting in the common room. Her fellow Ravenclaws all reeked of the anxious excitement that always came on Thursday nights, the kind of excitement that only the thought of a Friday coming up could bring. He felt his heart pounding and his whole body felt as though it was burning in embarrassment. At first, it had simply been shocking to be attacked by a book out of the blue (and with no Patrick around to blame), but now he stood wincing in the middle of the room with one hand pushing his hair back away from his forehead where the book had tussled with it.

Leaning down, he picked up the book and handed it to her. "Here," he said, and then paused a moment before forcing himself to try to say more, "what spell were you trying?"

"I was trying a spell to make the book grow legs and then have them disappear, but it was a bit hard to read the text, and I guess I read it wrong," Emily explained.
