I would talk about two things: distribution or propogation of agents through the system, and perhaps density as a function of propogation and volume?

I would tend to use propogation when describing a discrete, finite environment, and not distribution I don't think - distribution implies a metric of 'x agents per y squares'. I actually faced exactly the same problem (I was dealing with a continuous environment, making things even harder heh. In fact one of my fitness functions took in to account the maximum distance between any two agents within a group. Look at flocking for some common parlance?)

Nothing so biological, this is about social groups and how their members interact with each other and members of different groups ;)

Propogation might still be a pretty good term for it though :)
