How do these people usually react when you tell them why a cat shouldn't be declawed?

We didn't declaw our kitty because well.. we have a husky and she's dominant. Kitty's claws are her only way of saying "get the hell out of my way". She does love to claw at our couch though and I wish I could get her to stop. Scratching post gets no attention. :(

Yes, the woman with the shepherd sounds far too much like Atty. The dog trainer repeats to me whenever he calls how much Atty does not need D, whatsoever, and how she's doing him a disservice, etc. It's like, "Preach to her, not the choir." Atty even asked the housekeepers (before they quit) if they'd take Wolf. The SWEET dog. *headdesk*

At least he brought the dog IN rather than let it suffer outside. *shudder*
