I don't know what to say. *siiigh* I'd love to foster dogs but I know I just can't at this point in my life - but I can imagine the headaches after reading your posts.
I'm sorry about lissy. My neighbors and I had a similiar failure this summer with a feral cat. We had her won over enough to pet her but when my cat went missing she reverted to her feral nature (I guess she tolerated us to be with him)
I tried to explain to the first couple that Stanley's behavior was 100% normal, and I got, "Well, our first cat never acted like that." For Pete's sake, Stanley was declawed and had no bad habits at all other than hiding. Fortunately, the intolerant couple will not attempt to adopt again.
I managed to get Lissy to crawl into the carrier on her own, and I sat with her on the front porch waiting for her ride to show up. I was glad she was hissing and growling at me-if she'd reverted to the crying like she'd done in the car trip to the vet, I would have snapped.
My SiL wants me to stop at the cat rescue lady's house over the holiday but i'm thinking do i want to drive 4 hours home when I could get one here with less of a drive (but this lady does it all on her own and I wouldn't mind helping her out)

The first couple are idiots. That's what cats do

It's a shame when the cat is smarter than the owner. :-b
