Rethinking a Japan comic

BoingBoing recently posted a promo video/another review for the comic "Tonoharu," a graphic novel about a JET teacher's experience in Japan. At first glance, the comic is beautifully drawn in a woodcut style, but when you look at the story, it's... depressing. See, your time in Japan isn't just about being a dancing bear, it's also a time capsule. The Japan you knew doesn't seem to be the Japan of now.

Which of course will get the weeaboos all in a tizzy, huh?

I suggest the title be "It can't be helped!!" I suspect that will have a deep resonance with you :)

there will always be someone there to accuse you of being racist if you use an ethnic group not your own since you did it wrong and you'll be more racist if you don't include them. So I guess what I'm saying is you should do it. It should be a very good story

and yes everything is a porno

I think you should go for it! You could also do it a different way, with it not done entirely as a graphic novel but rather prose passages with the occasional illustration thrown in. Parts done as comic panels but other parts written out as memoir. I've seen some popular blogs done that way and I think you would be able to do an amazing job with it!
