A high school student was killed, his sister critically wounded and their father stabbed Monday afternoon at their Southeastside home.
Marion County sheriff's investigators were looking into the possibility that the father shot his children and then stabbed himself.

Sheriff's deputies, responding to a neighbor's call about 3 p.m. Monday, arrived to find the critically injured girl at the neighbor's house, the man on the ground outside his home in the 5600 block of South Gladstone Avenue, and his wounded son inside.
Harley Brown, a 15-year-old Southport High School student, died at Wishard Memorial Hospital. His sister, Ashley Brown, a 12-year-old sixth-grade student at Southport Academy, suffered gunshot wounds that left her in critical condition. David W. Brown, 44, their father, also was in critical condition with stab wounds.
Marion County sheriff's investigators worked late Monday to sort out details, searching for a possible motive for the violence.
No one apparently saw or heard any commotion.
The first sign of trouble came when a wounded Ashley Brown ran from the house to the neighbor's.
Police initially thought that someone was armed and inside the home.
"I came out just to smoke a cigarette, and there was a Southport police officer. He jumped out with a big rifle. And then there were police everywhere," said Linda Colwell, who lives across the street from the shooting scene.
Police reports show that officers had answered calls at the Brown residence in previous years.
Public records show that Brown and his wife, Stacy Brown, 34, had filed for divorce in February. She was not living at the Gladstone address, records show, and it is unclear with whom the children lived.
In May, a sheriff's deputy was summoned to the home on a report of a suicide threat by Harley Brown. The boy told a deputy he got frustrated because he could not remove a trigger lock on a gun stored in the house and also couldn't find the ammunition.
In Harley's room, the deputy found more than 50 knives on display. David and Stacy Brown both said "they were packing up the firearms and knives to a secure location," according to police records. The teen was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for psychiatric treatment.
David Brown had no local criminal history. He had obtained a concealed weapons permit on April 17, 2004, records show.
According to police records, Brown was reported missing in February 2001 by his wife, who told police she was concerned about his strange behavior.
David Brown was distressed over his salary being cut $20,000 at the Indianapolis plating company where he worked, the police report said.
During the 2001 incident, Brown allegedly wrote a note to his two children, according to police reports. "I'm so sorry for the way things are, Love dad," the card read.
Neighbors said the family moved to the Gladstone house five or six years ago.
The Brown house is one of several single-story, brick-faced houses on the street. A pontoon boat was parked behind the Brown house, and two vehicles were in the driveway.
"It's a shock," said Bill Wade, who lives next door to the Brown home. "He's a nice guy -- my kids play with his kids."
The neighborhood is typically quiet. Said neighbor Amy Sufan: "I've lived here since '78, and we've never had any problems."
There it is... And in "normal" terms her is what happened. David (dad) and thier mom were in middle of a divorce! And custady was still being decided. When Harley adn his lil sis Ashley cam e home from skool Monday his dad sat them at the table, told Harley "son I love you" and shot him in the head. Ashley started to run outta the house to the neighbors and her dad shot her TWICE in the back! The (like he deserves) he stabed himself !
