They always appreciate the love their fans give them - but right now is not the best of times. Even when they arrive at the cemetery a few fans are still snapping pictures of them and yelling that they look good in their suits.
Really?
Those calls are ignored, just like the cameras. It might not look like Junhong cares, but Himchan knows better. He puts a hand on the younger boys’ shoulder, squeezing lightly to show his support. The fans are not able to follow them to the funeral, thank god, and they walk further in silence.
It’s strange as they arrive and Junhong is both happy and sad to see his family. He hasn’t seen them enough and the time seems to fly past with how busy they are. The last time he saw his grandmother was over half a year ago.
And now he would never see her again.
When he first got the news it reminded him of how unpredictable life really is, and that everybody is going to die, once. His grandparents, his parents, his brother, his friends, himself..
It seemed surreal and close at the same time, as if he might wake up and realize he was alone all along.
But his friends were there, and they hugged him and Yongguk even cried a bit with him in memory of his own grandfather.
They made the pain number and for that he was thankful.
The ceremony wasn’t anything big, just close family and friends. A few came forward to say some words, and Junhong scattered the first bit of dirt on the casket with his brother. The light flowers on the side contrasted with the black of their clothing, and in the middle stood an enlarged picture of an elderly couple, smiling.
They had been so happy, and now it was his grandfather who was hurting the most.
The thought of being alone like that himself made Junhong’s body tremble.
He wouldn’t be able to handle that.
When they walk back to the van the fans are still there, and Junhong holds his tears in a little longer until he’s safe in the car and leaning against Yongguk for support.
“Promise you’ll never leave me?”
He’s holding onto Yongguk’s hand desperately, he looks at him, and in his eyes is clear that he knows how Junhong feels. He squeezes the younger boy’s hand in reassurance and places a small kiss against his forehead.
“I promise, baby.”
