Got sucked into replying to a thread on Fukbook posted by a woman who is living with her boyfriend, paying him rent and is upset that he is the one who is getting equity in his house. I mean, girl, it is his fucking house!!! What did you expect? Apparently, a lot. Oh well

Тогда и женщины должны быть готовы к тому, что в какой-то момент им придется содержать своих мужей. Я вот лично выросла в семье, где все женщины пахали на работе с утра и до ночи, и им это нравилось (это с материнской стороны). Бабушка моя работала на 2х службах, а по приходу домой еще и частные вызовы. Котлеты она в первый раз приготовила в 60 лет. Мама и тетя - трудоголики. Дочки тети - трудоголики. Никого из вышеперечисленных мужья не содержали никогда, хотя старшее поколение жило в Закавказье.

I'd argue that there is no "be ready". Women have always been supporting a lot. It is nothing new. Just take a look at the reality of pre War II in Europe. All women worked the fields, and often would have their own small businesses running on the side to provide for the kids. Small segment of population was middle class, where women were able to stay home, but then these women depended on their husbands for everything. Very much like middle class American women post War II. Why do we have movies such as "First wives club"?
